The death of original thought and other crimes against humanity

 Hey folks,

I feel like venting, and I want to vent about multiple things. The thing you will be reading now will be a huge dump of all of my turbulent thoughts, which have been bothering me.

There are no conclusions to take away from what is written here. If you like this and relate to this, I'm happy for you. If you don't care about any of this and you are wondering why the heck you should even care about all of this, I honestly still don't care because this is my personal space.

For the song of the blog, I have an album by my favourite artist, Fred Again. You can listen to the album here. Well, the dream is to see him live one day. I think I have seen enough of his sets virtually. Pay attention to the lyrics of the songs in this album.

I don't know if it's just me, but have you also noticed the fact that people lately have gotten so shallow, like there is no depth to people anymore?

Let me give an example of what I mean. Yesterday I was out with my boys, and one of my boys was talking to this girl, and being an absolute bro, I was helping him text her. While texting her, she was talking about how she wanted to experience love, how she wanted things that were more than just lust in her life. How she craved to have nice things done for her, but after about 30 minutes of conversation with the same girl turned out her idea of love was just making out. I mean, while I am not generalising what is wrong with people! Why would someone talk so high and mighty high and mighty, yet act the opposite?

(Men are just as bad and just as shallow, I think we are all doomed as a generation and am not slut shaming in anyway. To each their own.)

I don't understand something else, the fact that people don't seem to reciprocate the level of effort others put in. I mean, I think honestly it's my fault for having expectations from people and not communicating them, I guess, but boy, even after doing all of this, I think life has become a chore.

To start off, let me tell you what I mean by all of this: keeping connections is difficult, extremely so, but the fact that people don't have the basic decency to reply to people when they seem to find time to do other things, such as posting on Instagram it really questions your importance in their life.

I don't know if what I am doing is the right thing, but I have started to cut off such people from my life. If I text them, and they don't have the basic decency to text back within, say, 24 hours, but still found time to post on Instagram. I am planning to cut them off. But then again, I will only do this to people who seem to reach out only when they need something done from me.

The other thing I want to talk about is how original thought seems to be dead. What do I mean when I say this, the more people I talk to, the more I feel like they are nothing but copies of people who had some thoughts that they heard online. Nobody seems to dig deep enough into something that they hear anymore. Nobody seems to be keen on doing research; we seem to be living in a world of he said she said.

The problem with that is that everything ends up as if we are playing a game of Chinese whispers, people confidently quote others, take things out of context, or straight up just copy personalities rather than forging and exploring on their own. People are outsourcing thinking to transformer models online, which is basically autocomplete on drugs.

I am talking about everyone using ChatGPT to enhance what they write about, or use it as a friend or a therapist. Don't do that, it is not something which can think yet. Maybe an AGI can do it, but the truth is, even the people who made all of these models don't know how this works, and we have no idea how this will end. I think AI doomsday is very real, and the outcome is going to be intellectually numb people walking around who can't think for themselves and use AI to solve simple problems.

The collective intelligence of the world will drop, people will graduate with degrees which have no meaning, and all the convenience we are enjoying right now will basically churn out a bunch of people into the society who believe പതയം പെരും, ചക്കി കുതും, അമ്മ വെക്കും, ഞാന്‍ ഉണ്ണും, (to my non malayalm speaking folks, this is a phrase which shows a ignorce in the child who thinks the cellar gives birth to rice and that's how rice is made) is how things work.

Albeit I am not saying AI is bad, it's a tool to help you with things, don't use it as a replacement for your actual brain. On that note, that's a wrap, bye guys.
